Community Service

A component of the ACS mission is “to serve Lebanon and the world community with understanding and compassion.” With this in mind, ACS elementary students engage in service learning activities with the goal of becoming global citizens that are able to improve the community and world in which they live.

Outdoor Education

The Key Objectives of the Outdoor Education Program in the ES is to offer access to the outdoors through a well-balanced and well-rounded program. The program aims to teach a range of skills and knowledge required to be active and safe in the outdoors; students through outdoor activities work towards achieving common goals, as well as help the students understand the importance of knowledge in natural, ecological, cultural, and personal experiences in order to promote health and wellbeing, and for personal development. Our access to the amazing nature in Lebanon and our Outdoor Education Center in the mountains help us meet these objectives. The Outdoor Education Team consists of two outdoor educators who facilitate the children’s learning through these experiences.

Student Services

Learning Support

Students with mild learning needs will find a caring, individualized approach and supportive learning environment that aligns with the ACS Beirut Curriculum. Learning Support at ACS is a referral program, offering support to regular classroom teachers and parents to help students maintain and develop as successful learners. All students are enrolled in regular classes and must function with minimum special assistance. Learning Support Services include Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) and English Language Learners (ELL).

What is LLI?

Leveled Literacy Intervention is a small-group, literacy intervention for students who have reading and writing difficulties. The goal of LLI is to lift the literacy achievement of students who are not achieving grade-level expectations in reading.

What is ELL?

ACS offers English Language Learners (ELL) support in Grades 3-5 for students just acquiring the language. The goal of the ELL program is to help students develop the language skills necessary to be successful students and members of society. The ELL program provides identified Non-English Speaker (NES) and Limited English Speaker (LES) students with specific language instruction catering to their English Language Learning needs in order to be successful in the mainstream classroom and all areas of the curriculum at their grade level.

Academic Development

Beginning at the elementary level, we strive to form responsible study habits in our students as they begin to develop their academic self-concept. Students begin to focus on awareness and self-management skills in their learning process, so that they are guided with the best preparation to move forward through Middle School.

Social and Emotional Development

At ACS, our curriculum is embedded in social and emotional learning (SEL). SEL enhances students’ abilities to understand and manage their emotions, set and achieve personal and academic goals, show respect and empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible and ethical decisions. These personal and interpersonal competencies provide a foundation for success in work and relationships as adults.
