It's a Wrap of the Fall Sports Season
Posted 12/14/2017 02:23PM

Thanksgiving is traditionally a day of celebrating with family and friends, relaxing over a big feast thankful to be together and for the past year. At ACS, it can have another meaning, being thankful for the great fall sports season.

This year over 200 students participated in the fall sports program, playing on one of the 11 Middle School and High School teams: Volleyball, Rugby, Cross Country or Swim Team.

By the end of the season 8 of those teams, consisting of 95 athletes, traveled to Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, T’bilisi and Moscow.

During those sports conferences, ACS earned a sportsmanship banner, a 3rd place trophy, bunches of ribbons, a 2nd place medal, and a championship trophy.

Athletic Director Joe Toler began the evening by thanking the athletes and their families for their dedication and commitment, recognizing that the athletes were supported by over 100 coaches, volunteers and ACS parents. With the students, their goal this year is to answer the big question: 'what does it mean to be a knight?' While there is no right answer, Joe commented that "from everything we have seen during this season, dedication, teamwork, loyalty, respect for the game, honor in winning and in losing, our athletes are well on their way to clearly defining our answer."

The 11 teams were called up one by one to hear words of praise from their coaches, comments about the season and recognize those who had received one of 4 season awards including Most Improved Player, No Guts No Glory, Most Valuable Player and the Coach’s Award.

Although the fall season is over, the winter season is underway and the game schedules are posted on the website. Join parents and fans in the stands to cheer on our Knights. You can read more about the awards in our ACS Matters Magazine coming in January.
