International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

ACS IB Logo

The IB Diploma Programme is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond.

The programme is normally taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world's leading universities.

The American Community School Beirut was the first IB authorized school in Lebanon to offer the IB DP Programme in 1995. The programme started in 1996 with only a few students and it grew over the years.

Our results testify to the high quality of the IB Programme offered at ACS. Even though our IB Programme is not selective, we have remarkable results.

The American Community School at Beirut was the first IB authorized school in Lebanon to offer the DP Programme in 1995. The programme started in 1996 with only a few students and it grew over the years to become the main program in grades 11 and 12. Our graduates have the opportunity to study in competitive universities in Lebanon, and abroad, mostly in the States and in Europe.

IB Results

What do ACS graduates have to say about the IB DP Programme?

"The broadness of the programme, combined with the depth that each subject offers has allowed me to interact with people more easily, as I can talk about almost anything and relate to their various experiences!" Amanda Dufour'10

"IB develops invaluable skills in presentations and in research. IB teaches you to be confident and to have well-structured presentations that are delivered in an engaging manner. IB also teaches you essential skills that are very important in university. The ability to sift through research and to evaluate sources are needed in university, and with the experience of IB, I can see that my skills in this area are somewhat superior." Lynne Bibi'10

"There’s no hiding the fact that the IB program is extremely challenging, and is often hard to handle as a student. However, the amount of personal growth that the IB program provokes is well worth the work!" Carla Sertin'12

"Strengthening bonds with your community, pushing the boundaries of your creativity, challenging your assumptions, and teaching you something new everyday: IB is the best gateway to the real world." Shahnaz Maktabi'13

"In a positive way, IB becomes a persons life because of the impeccable balance between CAS and studying. IB is what you make of it; it can either be a burden or a relief. I chose the latter and gained lifelong lessons and techniques that are not found in any other program." Jad EL Tal'14
