Welcome to the Early Years
Welcome to the Early Years Homepage. I invite you to browse the description of the ACS Early Years program provided on our site and to contact me for further information about our division.
Our Early Years program (Nursery, KG1 & KG2) has been inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy since 2003. This philosophy is not a set program or curriculum; it is a mindset, a way of thinking and being. It is an approach that is constructivist, progressivist and humanist in nature.
In addition to embracing the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the Early Years program is part of a Nursery-Grade 12 school that follows the AERO standards (American Education Reaches Out). These AERO standards start in KG2 and are meshed with the Reggio philosophy so that the learning continues to be joyful and child-centered. “Nothing without Joy”, a quote by Loris Malaguzzi (the founder of the Reggio Emilia Philosophy), is our vision in Early Years. We believe that learning should be a joyful experience for every child and adult. We also believe in the hundred languages of children; the language of art, music, dance, construction, math, writing … through which children express themselves and make their learning visible.
As all areas of development are interrelated and important, we address them equally to foster the development of the whole child. The 21st century skills and learning dispositions are embedded in all aspects of our program.
We invite you to join us on this journey. Together, through dialogue and collaboration, we will ensure a joyful learning experience for everyone.
