Welcome to the Early Years
Welcome to the Early Years Homepage. I invite you to browse the information contained in our site and to contact me if you need any information about our division.
In the Early Years Division we believe that all children are capable and competent. They are curious and eager to learn about the world around them. Our job as teachers is to facilitate this learning by providing them with joyful experiences and designing a curriculum with the child in mind. We base our practices and methodologies on the Reggio Emilia philosophy. “Nothing without Joy”, a quote by Loris Malaguzzi (the founder of the Reggio Emilia Philosophy), is our vision in Early Years. We believe that learning should be a joyful experience for every child; we observe children and listen intently to them, get an insight into their prior knowledge and interests, and provide engaging experiences that challenge their thinking so new connections can be made. We believe in Social Constructivism where children explore and learn from each other and construct their own knowledge. They build relationships with one another, with adults, as well as with the environment and materials.
We believe in the hundred languages of children, the language of art, music, dance, construction, math, writing … through which children express themselves and make their learning visible.
We invite you to join us on this journey. Together we will collaborate and dialogue to ensure a joyful learning experience for everyone.
