John Nohos Endowment Fund

We are establishing a fund in John’s name to support high-achieving students who would not be able to attend ACS without financial assistance.

Born in Beirut in 1969 to Greek parents, John joined ACS as a student when he was 6 years old. Except for two brief periods when he was evacuated to Athens because of the war in Beirut, he spent his entire school years at ACS and graduated with the class of 1988. After attending University in Athens and working as a stockbroker, John returned home to ACS permanently in 2009 to teach middle school social studies. Taking a short break from teaching, John worked for some years managing the Facilities & Operations Department but returned to teaching because being with students in the classroom was his passion.

John Nohos was part of a community who loved him and cherished him. Teachers, staff, custodians and guards respected and admired him for who he was, for his kind and friendly character, and for the years of dedication and giving to ACS.

Mr. Nohos, our beloved Middle School Social Studies teacher, believed that we should try to make ACS accessible to talented, well-rounded students.
