Dear ACS Families,

I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Douglas Bourget has accepted our offer to be the next Middle School Principal at ACS.  We had more than thirty applications for the position, and after an initial round of interviews, we invited three finalists to campus for a full day of interviews with representatives of our various constituencies: students, faculty, administration, and parents' committee.

Mr. Bourget spent the early part of his teaching career at an international school in Korea, and he has extensive teaching and administrative experience in his school district in the state of Maine.  For the past seven years, he was assistant principal and then principal of Hall-Dale Middle School.  Prior to moving to Hall-Dale, Mr. Bourget was principal of Maine Connections Academy, a virtual public charter school near Portland, Maine.  He is a middle school educator who thoroughly enjoys working with middle school students.

A native of Maine, Mr. Bourget earned a B.A. in English Literature from Marlboro College in Vermont, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Southern California, and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. 

I am excited to welcome Mr. Bourget to our campus this summer.  He is a proven leader who has earned a reputation as a good listener, thoughtful decision-maker, and an administrator who is well-liked and highly respected by the students, families, and faculty of his school.  He is very excited to move to Beirut and to begin his tenure at ACS.  He has much to offer our community.

On a separate note, I would like to wish all middle school students the very best as they embark on their Week Without Walls experiences next week.  I know the re-scheduling of this Week Without Walls has been very challenging, but I am very pleased that it is happening.
