Dear ACS Families,
I hope that everyone is doing OK. This has been a stressful and anxious time, for sure. We hope to know a lot more about the evolving situation in Palestine and here in Lebanon in the next few days. Things are happening quickly.
With the scheduled closure of school on Thursday and Friday for the Fall Break, we have a couple of days to gather more information and to monitor the situation. The US Embassy issued an "Authorized Departure" warning earlier today, and we met with expat faculty to go over just what that means for them.
We are hopeful that many expats will decide to stay in Beirut, but we may lose a few expat faculty until the situation stabilizes. We can handle this. They will fulfill their teaching or other responsibilities online until they can return to Beirut. Linda and I will be staying in Beirut for the duration of the crisis. Supporting our school community in any way that we can is very important to both of us.
In the meantime, I would like to ask you to complete the following short survey about what your family's intentions are. Knowing how many students/families have left Lebanon, how many are staying here, and how many are still undecided will be very helpful as we plan for next week and beyond. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey, which is due by Friday at 12:00 noon.
I have no doubt that ACS will weather this storm as we have weathered many storms in the past. We'll have more detailed information for you by Friday afternoon. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Sincerely,
