Dear ACS Families,

First, I would like to thank ACS student Basel Al-Shahibi and his team of student and parent volunteers who collected a truckload of donations—clothing, blankets, bedding, etc.—to send to people in Syria who have been affected by the earthquake.  Thanks as well to everyone in our community who dropped by school today to donate much needed items.  And kudos to our guards and facilities team who also helped out.  It was a wonderful example of coming together as a community to help people in need.  All materials will be loaded this afternoon and embark on the journey to Syria.  Bravo!

Second, I want to reassure everyone that our campus is safe and ready for students and faculty on Monday.  Ziad El Hdary, our Director of Facilities, and members of his team inspected all buildings and structures on our campus on Monday.  We'll be reviewing our own earthquake procedures on Monday and will plan an earthquake drill with students for later in the week.  I am including a helpful earthquake guide which has excellent tips on how to protect yourself during and after an earthquake. 

The pictures and videos coming out of Turkey and Syria are heartbreaking.  For those in our community who have friends and relatives in the affected areas, we hope that all are safe and well.
