Dear ACS Families,
During the past two weeks, I attended two international recruiting fairs in London and Boston. I interviewed outstanding candidates for the few positions that we currently have open. Although the situation in Lebanon has made it more difficult to sign talented faculty, we will continue the conversations and the search. The landscape of hiring international teachers is extremely competitive, but our goal is to hire the best possible candidate for each of our open positions.
In addition to attending the recruiting fairs, I had the opportunity to meet with a few ACS alumni in both cities. The individuals I spoke with have such a fondness for ACS, and I loved hearing their stories about their time here. They also have a willingness to support ACS and to help us develop and strengthen our alumni networks throughout the world.
In Boston, we hosted a small event for local alumni. All alumni acknowledged that ACS prepared them especially well for their later undergraduate and graduate studies. Critical thinking, self-confidence, the ability to articulate complex ideas in speaking and in writing—these are all attributes they gained during their years at ACS. They were all very appreciative of their ACS education.
I have two more items to share. First, I would like to note that, as per the memo issued by the Caretaker Prime Minister, there will be no school on Tuesday, February 14, to commemorate the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Second, I am including the school calendar for the 2023/24 school year. There are two main changes I would like to point out. We are starting the school year a little earlier than we did this year; the first day of classes is Wednesday, August 30. Second, we will go back to having regular classes on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week rather than having the entire week off.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
