Dear ACS Families,
It is hard to believe that tomorrow is October 1! It has been a very busy first month of school, but it's so nice to see so many great things happening on our campus.
ACS is a member of a large regional school organization called the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools [NESA]. In addition to providing professional development and learning opportunities for faculty and administrators, NESA also has on-line programs for parents. ACS has subscribed to these programs on behalf of our parents. I would like to invite you to participate in an upcoming series of NESA webinars for parents entitled "Managing Your Family's Screen Time So It Doesn't Manage You." Click here for more information about the series. You may register for the webinar using the following link: NESA Webinar Registration. The first session is on October 4 from 4:00-5:00 GMT +3.
As most of your probably know, ACS offers three distinct high school programs for our students: The Lebanese Baccalaureate, the American Diploma, and the IB Diploma. The IB Diploma examinations are assessed externally, and we received our students' results over the summer. I'm proud to report that the average IB score was 34, the highest score ACS students have achieved. (The classes of 2006, 2010, and 2011 also achieved this mark.) Additionally, two of our IB students did remarkably well, scoring 43 and 42 respectively. Kudos to our IB students and teachers for this impressive accomplishment!
Finally, I would like to inform everyone that the recent administrative memo issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, which declared Monday, October 10, as a holiday in honor of the Prophet's birthday, does not affect our school calendar. The faculty and staff training day that had been scheduled for that day now must be rescheduled. We will let you know as soon as we have this date set. We cannot afford to lose this day for the important work we have to do.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
