Dear ACS Parents,
I hope all of your children had a wonderful first two days of school! I know the first days are filled with excitement and even a little anxiety, but comfortable routines develop very quickly. It's great to have everyone back, and I observed so many happy children as I walked around campus.
I am pleased to report that enrollment this year is over 880 students, including more than 160 new students! That's more than forty students than we had last year, an encouraging sign for sure. Attrition is down significantly from last year, when so many families decided to leave Lebanon. Unfortunately, this means that we've also had to put some talented students on our waitlist since some grade levels are completely full. We should be able to open a few more sections next year as we make our way back to pre-crisis enrollment numbers at ACS.
We are expecting a very normal year this year and are looking forward to being able to host many more events on our campus. Our athletic league, NESAC, which is comprised of 8 schools from different countries in the region, will resume tournament play this year, which will provide great competition and travel opportunities for our student athletes. We'll also resume our "Week Without Walls" program in the spring, when all middle and high school students get off campus for one week, participating in various programs either in Lebanon or abroad. Finally, Peter Schoonmaker, our new Director of Outdoor Programs, will be welcoming our students to our mountain campus in Deir El Qamar to get outside and connect with nature.
Please look for my newsletters each Friday during the school year. Feel free to contact me with any feedback: tcangiano@acs.edu.lb.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
