Dear ACS Families,
The Minister of Education has issued an order that all schools will be closed on Monday, the day after Lebanese elections. Although we are disappointed that we will lose a day of school next week, we are hopeful that the elections may yield a result that can initiate a period of constructive change in Lebanon.
Tuesday, May 17 is Day 2 in Early Childhood and Elementary School. It will be Week 2, Day 7 in Middle School and High School.
In HS, Tuesday May 17 through Thursday May 19: MAP testing. Friday May 20: MAP Make-ups.
Like so many in Lebanon, our faculty and staff continue to deal with unprecedented financial challenges. We are doing our best to support them, of course, but this has been exceedingly challenging in the current economic environment. Some ACS families are also struggling to navigate this financial landscape, and we are committed to supporting them as well during this very difficult time.
One of the strengths of ACS is our very strong sense of community. Although this has been undermined somewhat by restrictions imposed by the Covid pandemic, I have felt these community bonds during those occasions this year when we have had the chance to come together. I have also seen it every day when students come to school and interact with their peers and their teachers.
As we emerge from the pandemic and head into what we hope will be a normal school year, we look forward to restoring those events and activities that are the hallmark of the ACS experience. I know that we will continue to experience financial pressures until the economic situation in Lebanon starts to improve, but the strength of our community will sustain us.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
