Following the ministry's guidelines, we have had to close Grade 5 Section A starting on Wednesday Jan 19th and will be back on campus on January 28. Fortunately, this has occurred in our Lower School and the teacher has been able to switch the section to remote learning while the children are out of school. In Lower School, we have 11 COVID 19 active cases and 24 students (Close contacts) who are on home quarantine. In Upper School, there are 20 COVID 19 active cases and 20 students on home quarantine. The distribution of these cases in the Upper School is such that we are not in any danger of having to shut down sections or grade levels.
I want to express my appreciation to the ACS Covid Response Team, especially our school nurses, who have been working diligently to track and monitor confirmed cases and close contacts. Additionally, they've been tracking PCR test results which are required for children or staff to return to school after possible exposure.
Thanks as well to our students, families, faculty, and staff for doing their best to adhere to covid protocols. Our expectation is that the Omicron wave will end as quickly as it started, and then we can all breath a sigh of relief. I know we are all ready to get back to normal.
Finally, on a separate note, our security guards do an exceptional job of keeping our children safe during drop off and pick up times. Please remind any drivers or other personnel you may employ to be polite and respectful to our and IC's guards. There have been a couple of instances when this has not been the case; I don't want this to happen again. Thanks in advance for your help with this.
Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards,
