Dear ACS Families,
A few weeks ago I travelled to New York for the fall board meeting of ACS trustees. With the approval of the Board of Trustees, we have set the ancillary fee for the '22/'23 school year at $4,500 US dollars per student. This is the minimum amount required for us to meet our anticipated US dollar obligations of more than $7,000,000 for next year. Parents may apply for financial assistance through our Admissions Office.
As a not-for-profit school with no annual financial assistance from governments or other entities, our goal is to achieve a break-even budget. This is a particularly challenging goal given the uncertain economic situation and rapidly growing US dollar obligations we have.
One of our most important efforts for the '22/'23 school year is to retain talented and experiences ACS faculty and staff. We are optimistic that our efforts to increase the US dollar portion of employee salaries will enable us to do this. Additionally, we have started recruiting international faculty and staff for next year and hope to increase the number of international educators for the '22/'23 school year. I attended a virtual recruiting fair last weekend, and interest in ACS is strong.
As head of school, I know that so many good things are happening on campus this year. And, yet, there is always work to be done. We are developing various curricular and student life initiatives that will continue to enhance and improve the educational experience of all ACS students. Yes, we are all navigating a very difficult time in Lebanon, but we must continue to move forward.
ACS is a vital institution in Lebanon. Because of their experience at ACS, our graduates are the kind of independent, creative, socially responsible, self-confident, articulate problem solvers that this country and the rest of the world need right now. I'm proud to be the head of a school with such an important mission.
As we have done in the past, the general tuition for next year is announced after the March meeting of the ACS Board of Trustees.
Finally, I wish to thank all our parents for your ongoing patience, understanding, and support.
Sincerely,
