The second week of May was a busy time for High School students as they ventured out of the classroom for the annual week without walls. The program is designed to give the students an educational experience outside of the school buildings focusing on an interest of their choice. Internationally there were more than 7 destinations to choose from and in Lebanon there were 7 more choices.

Some of the Highlights

Renovating in Ouzai

Over 15 students spent the week renovating a house for a needy family in Ouzai. It is a project that happens yearly and serves the local community. Students painted and did minimal construction work and repairs.

Homes for Animals

Students who stayed in Beirut spent the week designing and building homes for cats and dogs of BETA before delivering them in Baabda.

Gourmet Lunch

Students took to the kitchen with a qualified chef to learn food selection, preparation and presentation. After a few days of ‘cooking’, they prepared lunch for the elderly and homeless in Sin El Fil and in Achrafieh.

Paris Je T’aime

Madame Joelle Yacoub (World Language Coordinator) took a group of students to Paris for a week of immersion French language and culture. The trip included visits to museums, chateaux’s and dining on French food.

Ice and Glaciers in Iceland

HS Junior, Pierre Al Kubeh chose to spend his week in Iceland. When asked why Iceland, he replied ‘ It was the most unique option and I wanted to visit a place that I am most unlikely to go to in the future.” While hiking in a glacier, the students learned that 7 meters of snow make just 1 centimeter of ice.
