Jinan Hashash may be petite and unassuming, but she has dozens of stories under her belt.

The book talks about the adventures of Hasan, after a genie kidnaps his bride on their wedding day. It upholds the virtues of bravery and chivalry. Hashash has just published, Ash-Shatir Hasan wal Marid (Resourceful Hasan and the Genie), and held her book signing on November 29, at Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center (BIEL), as part of the International Book Fair. Hashash has already published about 25 children’s books. The ACS community has come to expect a new book from the elementary Arabic teacher almost every year. And a new book it is.

“This is a story that we all grew up with; it is part of our oral heritage, so I did not want it to be lost,” said Hashash. “I wanted the new generation to know about it, especially since I particularly admire the virtues it highlights.”

Published by Dar Asala, the book would appeal to Grades 8, 9, and 10.
