Special dinner held recognizing Dr. George H. Damon, Jr., Retiring Head of ACS

The Board of Trustees of the American Community School at Beirut (ACS) recently hosted a dinner in honor of retiring Headmaster Dr. George H. Damon, Jr.

Special presentations included a statement by President of the Board of Trustees Nina Joukowsky Köprülü ’79 and a surprise tribute video that included touching words from faculty and staff about Dr. Damon’s term at ACS. Attendees included the Ambassadors of Kuwait, Egypt and Pakistan, the Minister of Education, the presidents of AUB, LAU, Haigazian University and International College, in addition to ACS trustees, parents and faculty.


During his tenure at ACS from 2003 to 2013, Dr. Damon has been credited with strengthening ACS community relations by developing a close-knit family of students, parents, faculty and alumni while maintaining the school’s mission of excellence in academics by retaining and recruiting a superb faculty and staff.
